Senior Director, Information Technology
The Senior Director of Information Technology will provide operational enterprise-level leadership and strategic direction for internal information technology, including; supply chain management, financial processes (SOX), sales processes, network infrastructure, and management information support to accomplish corporate goals and objectives. S/he will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and be involved in the overall planning and management of the company's information technology mission, goals and priorities. This person will oversee recruitment and supervision of the information technology staff, capital & operating budgeting, information management systems, and operational & strategic planning. In addition, s/he will have managerial oversight of an international staff of professionals within the information technology organization.
Responsibility and Accountability:
Strategic management of worldwide information systems within Accelrys including information systems, hardware, software, telecommunications, and user support
Systems Integration
Creation of a strategic information technology plan.
Guides long range plan for information technology services. business continuity planning
Developing, implementing, and maintaining critical business function information flow systems for both internal and external purposes
Partnership with scientific, business, sales, marketing, and support function groups
Management of vendor/product evaluation and selection process
Overseas the purchasing of Information Technology products and services
Project Prioritization and Management
Demonstrated success in recruiting, managing, and developing an outstanding team of IT professionals
Establishing and maintaining budgets
Developing, implementing and overseeing policies and procedures
Maintaining and implementing appropriate security policies and procedures
Function as a member of the Senior Management Team
Background and Experience:
Key is management strength, preferably with experience in matrix organizations including diverse geographic entities (ideally multi-national).
Strong writing, speaking and organizational/scheduling skills will be essential
In matrix, individual must work with ("sell to") the various divisions and corporate functions
Strong track record of carry projects through from design through implementation on time and on budget
Should be experienced with broad set of corporate IT implementations including software as a service (SaaS), Web 2.0, intranets, website development and maintenance, VoIP, LANS, WANS, Contact Centers , and Presence technologies for collaboration
Exposure to SFA , CRM , ERP in a SaaS environment
Experience in managing outsourced IT infrastructure/data centers
"Hands on" management. Planning and completing successful implementation and maintenance of systems will be the dominant responsibilities and time consumers
BS degree and 15+ years of experience in IT management within the commercial sector with life science and/or software development industry experience desired
