Automotive E-Commerce Company – Director of Sales Operations

My client, a joint venture between a major automotive Original
Equipment Manufacturer and their dealers, provides marketing and
sales tools to drive Internet sales of new and used vehicles. The
company provides e-commerce websites and tools, as well as lead
management and marketing support, for five thousand automotive
dealers. This joint venture is run independently, as an
entrepreneurial, profit-driven entity rather than as an internal cost
center as many other OEMs run their e-commerce operations.

My client seeks a Director of Sales Operations, called Director of
Operations, to drive revenue and performance of the team of
Operations Managers. Reporting to the Executive Vice President of
Operations, the Director of Operations will be responsible for and
measured on revenue generation, product penetration, dealer
satisfaction, and task-based metrics. This position is based in the
greater Detroit, Michigan area.

Job Responsibilities:
The Director of Operations position manages the deployed products of
this joint venture. S/he manages a team of Operations Managers to
ensure appropriate levels of performance are achieved.

The primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Established vendor relationship management,
• Internal training and product functions communication,
• Monitoring competitive activity and identifying customer
needs,
• Communicating product performance,
• Developing and managing quarterly objectives, and
• Working cross-functionally to execute initiatives.

Secondary responsibilities include:
• Sales plan development,
• Monitoring and recommending pricing strategy,
• Tracking profitability of product lines,
• Identifying and recommending product line extensions, and
• Supporting new product launches.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate will be revenue generation focused and have
the following qualifications:
• 7 to 10 years of experience in Internet technology sales with
experience working with or selling to automotive dealerships.
• Strong strategic account management skills.
• Demonstrated success in identifying, analyzing, and driving
revenue from dealers.
• Focus on customer satisfaction.
• Strong team management skills for training and coaching a
team of sales and customer service focused Operations Managers.
• Experience working in a fast-paced entrepreneurial
environment.
• Bachelor's degree; MBA, a plus.
