Accounting manager / assistant controller $85k-$90k base plus up to
30% bonus

Our client is a highly profitable manufacturer of airframe fasteners
for commercial and military aircrafts located in Orange County with
annual revenues of $150M+ and 500+ employees. They are looking to
add an Accounting Manager because the current Assistant Controller
has been promoted to Controller in another division. This position
is on track to become Assistant Controller down the road. The
Accounting Manager will have 6 direct reports, including AP, AR, and
Payroll, so management skills are very important. Other important
skills are extreme attention to detail and excellent Excel
knowledge.

Position Overview:

We are currently seeking a qualified Accounting Manager to join our
Accounting department. This position reports to the Controller and
will be managing the department's daily activities. Primary areas of
responsibility are general ledger, accounts payable, accounts
receivable, credit/collections, payroll and fixed assets.

Minimum Requirements:

1. B.A. in Accounting (candidates with MBA and/or CPA are
preferred)
2. Minimum 5 years of management or supervisory experience in a
manufacturing environment with progressive responsibilities
3. Solid understanding of GAAP, financial statement preparation,
and accounting theory
4. Excellent knowledge of Excel (strong knowledge of Access is a
plus)
5. Proven problem solver who can diagnose root causes, is able
to identify alternative solutions, detail-orientated, make
recommendations and demonstrate follow-through, deadline aptitude

Responsibilities:

1. Manage the Accounting department in the areas of general
ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit/collections and
payroll
2. Administer SOX procedures and compliance
3. Perform month end close duties including preparation of
journal entries and account reconciliation, including LIFO reserves
4. Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly reporting
packages
5. Determine drivers of changes in financial statements and
accounts between periods and communicate findings effectively
verbally and in written format.
6. Prepare and submit financial reports and data for both
internal and external customers on a timely basis
7. Review of transaction activity to insure compliance with
management authorized policies and procedures
8. Maintains the fixed asset sub-ledger
9. Coordinate tax-related audits
10. Assist in special projects as needed

1. Plant Controller (possibly start as an assistant controller first,
but could skip that process with the right candidate). $100k range
(flexible for experience) plus up to 30% bonus

This position will be based in Santa Ana. They have a relaxed
environment despite the demands from Corporate. It's a metric driven
company so they do a lot of financial analysis. 5-10+ years of cost
accounting in a manufacturing environment, financial analysis, and
managing others is a must. This position is highly visible so
communications skills are very important as well. The controller
wants someone who is promotable, not someone who wants to be an
Assistant Controller for the rest of their career. There are 5
companies under the Parent Company's umbrella in Southern California
where there are lots of opportunity for growth, and they like to
promote from within.

Qualifications Required

Bachelor's degree in Accounting. CPA, or CMA, and/or MBA preferred.

• Minimum 5-10+ years related experience.
• Manufacturing, standard cost accounting and detailed
budgeting experience.
• Communication or analysis in either a lead or managerial
role.
• Strong proficiency in Excel required, plus knowledge of
Microsoft Office suite.
• Knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley control requirements strongly
preferred.
• Strong knowledge of ERP computer systems.
• Experience in financial reporting, account analysis,
budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Detail and deadline oriented.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Highly analytical with strong knowledge of accounting and
manufacturing operations.
• High energy professional with a "can do" attitude.

Responsibilities
• Responsible for financial statements, budgeting, forecasting,
and analysis of company activities.

• Preparation of comprehensive quarterly financial exhibits for
Corporate Review.
• Responsible for implementing/ upgrading to a state-of-the- art
financial reporting/analysis system.
• Key role in developing ways to improve profits, analyze
operations, forecast future results, explain results to management,
and develop reporting packages to local and corporate management.
• SOX administration and compliance.
• Cost accounting standards and manufacturing variance
analysis.
• Capital investment analysis.
• Upgrade and refinement of standard costing and budgeting
system.
• Identify and implement year over year continuous improvement
initiatives that support business objectives.
