Job Title: Senior Engineer, Software
Specialty: Internal PEA

Job Summary:
The Staff Engineer, Software, assumes a high profile role in the architecture, design, development, test and integration of application software on a software development team. This individual will ensure that the team develops software with attention to quality and according to project processes and procedures. They are responsible for designing, developing, and troubleshooting highly complex software programs for computer based systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:
§ May supervise and assign work to programmers, designers, technicians and other engineering personnel – provide mentoring to junior personnel
§ Assist in the management of a software project including elements of scope, resources and execution – may be called upon to individually lead a project
§ Must have a strong ability to troubleshoot and diagnose issues associated with complex computing systems
§ Performs systems modeling, simulation, and analysis in designing software systems
§ Advises Hardware Engineers on machine characteristics that affect software systems
§ Provides input for documentation on new or existing programs
§ Ensure that documented processes and conventions are maintained throughout the development effort
§ Develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish the work
§ Develop requirements-based system level architecture and software designs
§ Develop software to implement the design and develop automated unit tests to ensure that the software meets functionality and quality requirements
§ Prepare reports and correspondence concerning project specifications, activities and status
§ Consult with customers and/or other departments on project status, proposals and technical issues such as software system design and maintenance

Qualifications and/or Education:
§ Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Engineering
§ May require an advanced technical degree
§ Minimum of 10 years working in a complex system/software engineering capacity
§ Demonstrated project and/or team leadership experience
§ Experience in all phases of the software lifecycle including, system requirements definition, system requirements decomposition, software requirements definition, software requirements decomposition, system design, software design, software development, software testing, including unit testing, integration testing, system testing and acceptance testing
§ Position requires full competence in software engineering techniques and complete lifecycle management (requirements through customer support)

Technical Requirements:
§ Experience implementing and unit testing object oriented designs in C#
§ Experience architecting, designing, implementing and testing component based systems in C# & .Net
§ Understanding of Win32 API, COM and .NET technologies
§ Experience developing and unit testing software using C# and Java
§ Experience developing and documenting system architectures and object oriented designs
§ In-depth understanding of MS.Net framework and software development in C#
§ Experience with Complex Multi-Threaded Architectures
§ Experience with TCP/IP Socket Communications
§ Experience with Windows CE and Mobile Devices
§ Experience with Windows Media Technologies

Technical Preferences
§ Experience developing C++ software using Linux
§ Experience with Linux scripting languages, particularly Bash and Python
§ Experience developing embedded software applications
§ Experience in Aerospace or In-Flight Entertainment Systems a plus
§ Streaming video experience a plus

Soft Skills:
§ Strong written and verbal English communication skills
§ Must be proactive, meticulous, organized, and detail oriented
§ Ability to efficiently resolve problems
§ Ability to accomplish multiple tasks
§ Ability to work independently with minimal direction
§ Must be able to lead software teams without having direct supervision
